Walking from Edale House B&B
Edale House is ideally situated for walkers as there is a path right at the back of our garden! Turn north onto this path and you will reach the gorgeous Cannop Ponds in 1.5 miles. From there you can also access Beechenhurst Lodge (1 mile from Cannop) which has an excellent café serving hot and cold food and the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail. Turn south from Edale House and you will quickly reach RSPB Nagshead nature reserve which has its own excellent trails and paths. We are surrounded by woodland here at Edale House, so you have plenty of options without having to get in your car!
Local Paths and Trails
Walking is one of the most popular outdoor activities in the Forest for both visitors and residents. At any time of year the Forest provides an exceptional landscape, with bluebells and wild garlic in the spring, a wide variety of trees, flora and fauna, a burst of reds and oranges in autumn and crisp open woodland in winter.
There are several well known walks in and around Parkend. The villages of Moseley Green (1.5 miles east) and Whitecroft (1 mile south) have great pubs at both destinations. There are also interesting walks to Norchard (3.5 miles south), the Darkhill Ironworks site (2 miles west), New Fancy View (1.5 miles north east) and Mallards Pike (1.8 miles north east). The options are endless, and you might want to lengthen your stay as there are so many miles of beautiful forest to cover!
Walks and trails in the Forest of Dean provide great dog walking routes too. We have two dog friendly rooms in Edale House B&B and dogs will be in heaven with the miles and miles of woodland to explore.
